Spanish for Physicians, Patients and Everyone April 5, 2000 132 out of 139 found this review helpful
This book 'Spanish for Dummies' is a joy to read. The author stresses learning at your own speed. I am learning Spanish so that I can converse with my ever-increasing population of Spanish-speaking patients. It really makes a difference. I see lots of smiles when I struggle to get the accent correct. The book comes with a CD that is invaluable for pronunciation. Have Fun!
This is the best Spanish book I found for my purposes January 12, 2003 larry p. (denver, co. USA) 53 out of 54 found this review helpful
I never took spanish classes and wanted to learn on my own as I have a boring job but with lots of spanish speaking customers. I looked in the ... and...bookstore near us through all their books and this one was the best for my learning abilities. The #1 reason is that throughout the book it breaks down the pronounciation of each new and old word it gives you, without having to keep refering to rules in the beginning of the book. #2 it seems to have a logical lesson plan that I can follow easily, and not just touristy type lessons as I don't really plan on just asking where the hotel is, but need a practical more rounded learning experience.
Great supplementary book! March 16, 2007 Teresa (Philadelphia) 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
I wish I had purchased this book before, because it's A LOT better than the textbook used in my college Spanish class. While it's true that this book, alone, will not make you fluent in Spanish, there is no one book that will do that. What this book will do is act as a great tool to help your Spanish fluency along.
Best book to learn Spanish November 10, 2006 Elizabeth Ellis (Toronto, Canada) 8 out of 9 found this review helpful
In keeping with other books for dummies, Spanish for Dummies is easy-to-read and understand. You get a quick grasp on Spanish basics and many conversational interactions that are also available on a CD that is included. I would also recommend purchasing the handy pocket-sized Spanish Phrases for Dummies that is great for travel. For more intensive practice in speaking Spanish, check out Transparent Language software.
Spanish for Dummies January 3, 2007 C. Forsyth (AZ) 8 out of 9 found this review helpful
I am a huge fan of the Dummies books, I think they are great! This was a wonderful, very useful book, during college Spanish 102 for my daughter. She was able to use it more than the recommended books, and this one cost a whole lot less. A great addition to the Dummies books, thanks!
